Many Glacier Area
Hoping to avoid the huge crowds we encountered in Glacier, we headed to the Many Glacier area on the east side of the park. We had two nice hikes there, although by the afternoon it was just as crowded as the main part of the park. Our morning hike was a short, but intense, climb up to Apikuni Falls. The views were spectacular. |
Nearing the base of the falls. |
The last part of the hike was a rock-scramble up limestone “steps” to the base of the falls. |
Our afternoon hike was up Swiftcurrent Pass trail to Bullhead Lake. Along the way we passed Redrock Lake. |
A swinging bridge on the way to Bullhead Lake. A sign warns to have only one person at a time cross the bridge. It was shakier and swingier than other suspension bridges I’ve been on. |
Bullhead Lake. We turned around here after a climb of about 500 ft. To go over Swiftcurrent Pass would require a climb of about 2000 ft. |
All the creeks in Glacier have these brightly colored stones on the creek bed. I never really captured the vibrant colors to my satisfaction, even though I kept on trying! |
